About
I’m Peter Blake, a design director originally hailing from Devon, now working in Manchester and the north.
My work is hugely varied, from branding tiny-but-mighty streetfood startups to creating design systems for the most recognisable and loved brands in the world. It’s always fun – I aim to find a hook in every brief to keep it feeling fresh and exciting.
I’ve been busy lately: there’s the type-led campaign toolkit for American Express that we’re now rolling out into its second year; or art directing a stills shoot in the woodlands of Lisbon for our B2B client, Makita. Most recently I’ve been applying my hand drawn typography skills to some digital posters for plant-based food brand, Cauldron.
In work, my passion is for creating bold, outstanding visuals. Outside of work, I’m inspired by creativity of all kinds, from street food to science, and I love it when ideas from different worlds collide, creating new, unexpected offspring.
I’m always thrilled to help the next generation find their place in the design world – I’ve recently hosted portfolio reviews for young creatives at the UK Creative Festival, and judged at the WorldSkills graphic design competition.
In all of this, I have to thank the network of colleagues and collaborators that have contributed to the projects and made them what they are. The fantastic strategists, CDs, writers, art directors, motion designers, illustrators, project managers, producers, editors etc, etc. I’m lucky to have worked with some of the best in the game. You know who you are – let’s keep making amazing work together.
Take care,
Pete
